Leyla Lydia Tuğutlu

"Beauty has lost
strength for me"
Being Miss Turkey in 2008 opened the doors of acting for her, but this young actress has shown that she is much more than a pretty face and triumphs in Spain with two novels.
Born in Berlin and raised in Turkey, she gives life to the tender Candan of "My daughter" and the rich whimsical of "Sweet Revenge". We are talking about Leyla Lydia Tuğutlu, 31 years old, who has grown up between two cultures, which has helped her to be more tolerant. Trained in music and graduated in German Philology, her steps were directed towards television, first as a presenter and then as an actress, after winning a beauty pageant.
Candan from My daughter, or Pelin from Sweet Revenge. ¿Which is more you?
Both have characteristics of mine because I interpret them. I can affirm the first one opened my eyes in aspects that I didn´t know related to children.
This novel is a success and Beren Gökyıldız, a star.
Little Beren's responsibility in this project was huge. She is hardworking, talented, and very conscious for her age.
¿What did My daughter mean to you?
A lot. The impact it has had is incredible, something that we were not aware of while recording. Being so popular and loved by people makes me happy and at the same time amazes me. This story connected us with people from all over the world.
Including the Spanish people, do you know our country?
Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity. I am curious and I have decided to go as soon as possible.
Right now we also see you in Sweet Revenge. What do you remember?
It was a great responsibility for being one of my first weighty roles. The experience was very good and it opened up new opportunities for me.
You have done drama and comedy. Do you have a preference?
None. Comedy gives you more freedom to act and is more entertaining, while in drama everything has to be more accurate and precious. I am passionate about both genres and I hope to continue combining them.
What character would you like to be offered right now?
It's curious but this usually happens to me: I dream of a character that I want to play and it comes naturally.
Your last shoot ..?
It has been issued, The Awakening of the Great Seljuk, a historical novel. It was a very interesting job.
Are you a vocational actress?
Since I was little I liked to stand in front of a camera. I gave diction classes and they took me to work as a presenter. Later, I could do fiction and it was clear to me that this was my path in life. Even so, I studied German Philology and violin and piano at the conservatory.
Have you regretted it?
Never. Although it is not an easy profession and requires discipline and strength.
Are there more artists in the family?
Actors, no. One of my grandparents can be considered a painter and the other had a lot of musical talent.
Has the physicist marked you?
Yes, because in film and television the visual plays an important role. However, a career that is based only on being beautiful has expiration, talent is what really counts. In my case, as I have gotten older, beauty has lost strengh for me.
How is your heart?
Stable. I enjoy a long and beautiful relationship, which makes my life easier.
Any project in sight?
Nothing is certain yet. Make it a surprise!
